CBSE Class 10, 12 Exam Datesheet: CBSE Postpones Examination, Check Revised Schedule

The Central Board of Secondary Education has pushed back some CBSE Board Exams 2026 papers that were earlier fixed for 3 March. Class 10 regional and foreign language papers and certain electives now take place on 11 March, while the Class 12 Legal Studies exam moves to 10 April due to administrative reasons.

According to CBSE, every other paper for CBSE Board Exams 2026 stays on the original dates. The revised schedule applies only to selected subjects, and the overall exam window is unchanged. Students are advised to review the latest timetable carefully so that preparation plans stay aligned with the new dates.

CBSE Board Exams 2026 revised dates and key changes

In a circular issued on 29 December 2025, Dr. Sanyam Bhardwaj, Controller of Examinations, informed school principals about the updated CBSE Board Exams 2026 timetable. The circular stated: "The examinations of the subjects for Class 10 and Class 12, which were earlier scheduled on 03 March 2026, have been rescheduled due to administrative reasons. The revised dates are as follows: Class 10 - March 11, 2026; Class 12 - April 10, 2026. All other examination dates remain unchanged."

The main changes for CBSE Board Exams 2026 affect Class 10 students taking certain languages and Academic Electives (Group A2), as well as Class 12 students opting for Legal Studies. CBSE confirms that updated dates will appear on admit cards, and schools must revise internal date sheets and share the information with students and parents.

Subjects affected in CBSE Board Exams 2026 reschedule

For Class 10 in CBSE Board Exams 2026, regional and foreign language papers now held on 11 March are Tibetan, Bhoti, Bhutia, Bodo, Tangkhul, Mizo, Kashmiri, German, Japanese, Spanish and Bahasa Melayu. National Cadet Corps and Elements of Book Keeping and Accountancy, both under Academic Electives Group A2, are also shifted to the same date.

These regional languages in CBSE Board Exams 2026 include Tibetan, Bhoti and Bhutia, often chosen in Himalayan regions such as Ladakh and Sikkim to support study of local heritage. Bodo, Tangkhul, Mizo and Kashmiri cater to students from Assam, Manipur, Mizoram and Jammu and Kashmir, reflecting CBSE’s effort to maintain linguistic diversity within the school system.

Foreign language options in CBSE Board Exams 2026 such as German, Japanese and Spanish give students exposure to international cultures and communication skills. Bahasa Melayu, the national language used in Malaysia and parts of Indonesia, is included mainly for learners abroad and for students interested in Southeast Asian languages and regional links.

Within Academic Electives Group A2 for CBSE Board Exams 2026, National Cadet Corps focuses on discipline, character and service. The curriculum covers basic military training, disaster management and social awareness. Elements of Book Keeping and Accountancy serves as an entry subject for learners looking at commerce streams and basic financial record skills.

The overall CBSE Board Exams 2026 timetable starts on 17 February. On that day, Class 10 students sit for Mathematics, both Standard and Basic versions, while Class 12 candidates appear for Biotechnology, Entrepreneurship, Shorthand (English) and Shorthand (Hindi). All first-day papers run in a single session from 10:30 am to 1:30 pm.
