Last month, heavy rains had caused landslides in several places in Uttarakhand. Rubble from landslides had last month blocked a number of roads in Uttarkashi. The Rishikesh-Gangotri national highway was blocked at Therang, Laldhang and Nalupani whereas the Delhi-Yamunotri highway is blocked at Kadikhal, Silesu, and Lakhwad bend.
