Step-motherly act towards Srinagar
7/11 highlights the horror of Mumbai blasts. The senseless killing of over 200 people (official record) does touch our heart. It enrages us to wipe out the terrorist organizations rampant in the world. People all around the world felt their cries of anguish and despair.
India as one came to the aid of the distressed!
But, there lies a city in the north of India, where terrorist attacks have become a meal of the day. Srinagar, once known for its picturesque beauty, now just has a tale of terrors attached to it. The place, which India is clutching on for all its worth is not mindful about it. The sensualization of Mumbai blasts by media has shadowed the Srinagar blasts, which did occur on the fateful day of July 7. But, this just got a small place in the national newspapers.
It was a series of six grenade blasts that rocked the city. Though incomparable to the vastness of Mumbai blasts, it was just as effective. Tourists, the main source of income to the state were targeted once again. Home Secretary, V K Duggal dismissed saying that no link exists between Mumbai and Srinagar blasts. But, wasn't it the handiwork of a terrorist group if not SIMI? Jehad isn't it their common goal?
I, as a commoner wanted an unbiased attention to Srinagar blasts. Why this utter disregard towards Jammu and Kashmir? I do agree to the fact that there was a huge difference in numbers, but the amount of lives lost per month in JK is nowhere comparable. For decades, attacks were going on but India reacted to Mumbai blasts like US reacted to WTC bombing! Prime Minister went all out and declared 'war on terror' and suspected the hand of 'neighbouring forces'.
Result: India-Pakistan talks are suffering and a frail bond of friendship has crumbled! People of JK have to pay a price!
