Will Vijay's Political Entry Affect DMK-AIADMK? Here's What Strategist Prashant Kishor Says
As the 2026 state assembly elections loom large, Vijay, the prominent actor, finds himself in the spotlight as India's leading political strategist, Prashant Kishor, suggests that the actor could leave a significant impact on Tamil Nadu politics.
Speaking to Thanthi TV, Kishor has said that Vijay has not approached him, but he could give me advice but not work as a full-time political strategist as he has left the profession.

When questioned about the potential of Vijay's 'Tamilaga Vetri Kazham' (TVK) in Tamil Nadu politics, he noted that the Dravidian party's vote share, once exceeding 80 per cent, has now dipped below 70 per cent. He predicted a further decline to 40 per cent in the next 10-15 years. Kishor emphasized the importance of shaping the narrative, suggesting that whoever accomplishes this effectively could emerge as a significant political force in Tamil Nadu.
While acknowledging that he doesn't personally know Vijay, Kishor expressed theoretical optimism about the actor's potential impact, highlighting the existing gap in Tamil Nadu politics that could be filled.
Notably, Kishor previously served as the political strategist for MK Stalin during the 2021 Tamil Nadu polls.
In the same interview, Kishor cautioned against underestimating AIADMK chief E Palaniswami, advising against dismissing him lightly, as doing so would be a grave mistake.
He suggested that alliances with the BJP might hinder the vacating of this space.
Tamil actor Vijay on Friday formally announced his entry into politics on February 2. He has floated a new party called 'Tamilaga Vetri Kazham' (TVK).
In a statement, the actor stated that he has no plans to contest in the 2024 Lok Sabha polls but he has set his eyes on the 2026 Assembly elections.
