One of the key considerations is ensuring a leader who can work in tandem with the AIADMK, a party that had frequent run-ins with Annamalai. However, his recent loss in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections may work against him.

2. L. Murugan - The Dalit Face of BJP in Tamil Nadu

A former state BJP president and currently a Union Minister of State, L. Murugan has been instrumental in strengthening the party's outreach among Dalit voters. His background as a lawyer and RSS-affiliated leader adds to his credibility within the party.

Murugan's tenure as state BJP chief (2020-2021) was marked by aggressive expansion efforts, but he suffered setbacks in electoral battles, losing both the 2021 assembly election from Dharapuram and the 2024 Lok Sabha election from Nilgiris.
