What Will Be The Weather In Chennai & Tamil Nadu On Voting Day? Here's The Latest Update

While rains may have provided relief to several districts in Tamil Nadu, the temperature remains persistently high.

Over the 24-hour period ending at 8.30 am today, temperatures in Tamil Nadu were predominantly above normal to significantly above normal by 2-4°C in some inland regions. Coastal areas experienced temperatures ranging from normal to slightly above normal (1-3°C above normal), while temperatures in Puducherry and Karaikal remained near normal, according to the Regional Meteorological Department.

What Will Be The Weather In Chennai

The highest maximum temperature was observed in Karur Paramathi at 41.5°C (+4.2°C), followed by Erode at 41.4°C (+3.6°C), Tiruchi at 40.6°C (+2.6°C), Vellore at 40.5°C (+2.0°C), and Dharmapuri at 40.0°C (+3.1°C). In the remaining interior plains of Tamil Nadu, temperatures ranged from 38-40°C. Coastal regions of Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, and Karaikal experienced temperatures between 34°C to 38°C, while hilly areas recorded temperatures ranging from 22°C to 30°C (normal to above normal maximum temperatures).

Chennai recorded normal to above normal maximum temperatures, with MBK at 38.3°C (+2.3°C) and NBK at 36.1°C (+1.3°C).

What will be the weather on voting day?

Tomorrow will be a big day for the state as the polling for the 39 Lok Sabha seats along with a byelection for one assembly seat will be held. The high temperatures are a big concern as there is fear that the voters might not turn up. So, what will be the weather?

The Regional Meteorological Department has predicted light to moderate rain in some places in the state. In its daily bulletin, it said, "Light to Moderate rain is likely to occur at one or two places over Western Ghats and adjoining districts of Tamil Nadu."

At the same time, the RMD has issued a heat wave warning at isolated pockets over North Interior Tamil Nadu.

Northern Tamil Nadu consists of the following districts: Chennai, Thiruvannamalai, Vellore, Ranipet, Tirupattur, Villupuram, Cuddalore, Chengalpattu, Tiruvallur, Kanchipuram, Kallakuruchi, Ariyalur, Perambalur, Tanjore, Mayiladudhurai, Nagaipattinam, Thiruvarur and Pudhukottai.

Chennai Weather

As per the RMD, the weather in Chennai is expected to be partly cloudy. Maximum temperatures are anticipated to range between 37-38°C, while minimum temperatures are forecasted to be around 27-28°C.

However, weather blogger R Pradeep John of Tamil Nadu Weatherman has predicted that the heat wave will kick in from today. Chennai will witness 40°C, this week. Also, the delta and entire North Tamil Nadu would sizzle with some places in interior Tamil Nadu is expected to cross 42°C.
