Weather Alert: Heavy Rains In TN, School Shut In Chennai, Karaikal, Puducherry; IMD Predicts More Showers
Kerala and Tamil Nadu are bracing for heavy rains on Wednesday, with the India Meteorological Department (IMD) predicting further wet weather throughout the upcoming days this week. Puducherry and Karaikal have been experiencing incessant rain over the past 24 hours, prompting the respective administrations to announce a school closure for Wednesday.
While Kanyakumari, Tirunelveli, and Tenkasi districts are expected to witness light to moderate rains in specific locations. Students and parents are advised to get in touch with their respective schools for updates on the holiday.

As per the Regional Meteorological Centre (RMC) in Chennai, intense rainfall is expected in Kanyakumari, Tirunelveli, and Tenkasi districts, potentially causing challenges for residents in low-lying regions.
The weather department notes that a cyclonic circulation moving westward over Tamil Nadu will result in heavy to very heavy rainfall across the southern parts of South India for several days. Additionally, there might be light to moderate rainfall in Tamil Nadu on November 22-23, in Kerala-Mahe from November 22-24, Coastal Karnataka on November 23, and South Interior Karnataka on November 23-24.

Weather Update for November 23:
- Very heavy rain may affect parts of Kerala-Mahe, with heavy rain expected in segments of Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, Karaikal, Coastal Karnataka, and South Interior Karnataka.
- Scattered rain accompanied by thunderstorms is likely over Coastal Andhra Pradesh, Yanam, Telangana, and North Interior Karnataka.
- Isolated rain or snowfall is predicted across Jammu-Kashmir and Ladakh.
- There's a possibility of isolated rain with thunderstorms over Andaman-Nicobar Islands, Arunachal Pradesh, Konkan, Goa, Madhya Maharashtra, and Chhattisgarh.
- Shallow to moderate fog may occur in isolated places across North India, Central India, and East India during the morning hours.
