Vijayakanth's DMDK Seals Alliance With AIADMK, To Contest In 14 LS Seats

Premalatha, wife of late actor and DMDK founder Vijayakanth, on Wednesday announced that her party will form an alliance with AIADMK ahead of the 2024 Lok Sabha elections.

She announced that the DMDK will contest 14 Lok Sabha seats in the upcoming polls.

After Vijayakanth fell ill before breathed his last in December, his wife Premalatha was appointed the General secretary of the party.

After tying the knot to Vijayakanth in 1990, she had initially maintained a low profile. However, as Captain's health deteriorated, her political acumen and leadership qualities propelled her to the forefront of the DMDK.

Over the course of nearly a decade, she played a pivotal role in shaping the party's policies and strategies, particularly in Vijayakanth's absence due to illness. Her impassioned and resolute speeches resonate with the party's grassroots supporters, solidifying her position as a formidable presence in Tamil Nadu politics.
