Vijayakanth Makes First Public Appearance After Recovery; 'Heartbreaking To See Him Like This', Say Fans

Days after he was discharged, actor-turned-politician Vijayakanth made his first public appearance on Thursday.

He appeared before his party workers and greeted them to massive cheers. However, the sight of Vijayakanth sitting in the wheelchair did not go well with the netizens.

Many said that it was "heartbreaking to see him like this" even as he struggled to wave at his fans. "Get well soon, really heart breaking to see him like this," a user said.

"So Sad to see...Good hearted person like #vijayakanth in this condition. May god give you with all strength....Pls comeback with same energy," another person said.

There are also clips doing rounds where his party workers are seen crying.

Desiya Murpokku Dravida Kazhagam (DMDK) founder was discharged from the hospital on December 11.

The DMDK said this in an official statement on Monday, "We are happy to inform everyone that DMDK President Vijayakanth is fully recovered and has been discharged from the hospital today morning (11.12.2023) and he has returned home."

He was admitted to the hospital in Chennai on November 18, after complaining about a cough, cold and sore throat.

Narayanan Vijayaraj Alagarswami, better known by his stage name Vijayakanth, was the Leader of the Opposition in the Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly from 2011 to 2016. Before entering politics he was a successful actor, producer and director.

Vijayakanth is also the current DMDK chairman of Tamil Nadu legislative assembly. He is the founder and president, general secretary of the Desiya Murpokku Dravida Kazhagam (DMDK) Political party and served as a Member of the Legislative Assembly twice representing the constituency of Virudhachalam and Rishivandiyam respectively.
