Vijay Has No Policy, But Wants To Become Tamil Nadu CM: DMK Mocks TVK Chief

The DMK has downplayed Thalapathy Vijay's entry to politics through his party Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam saying the actor-turned-politician does not have a policy on language and social issues.

DMK Slams Vijay

Speaking to ANI, DMK Spokesperson TKS Elangovan said, "Vijay formed the party to become the chief minister without any policy. What's his social and language policy? He has no policy. He openly said that he wants to become CM in 2026 that's why I am starting a party which funniest thing that can happen in any country."

His comments came amid rumours of the BJP trying to bring Vijay to the NDA fold. Responding to the rumours, Union Home Minister has hinted that while "everything will become clear in some time as there is still enough time for the elections," he did not dismiss the possibility.

Vijay founded his party in 2024 and is a newcomer to Dravidian politics. So far, the actor has not struck alliance with any party and is keeping all options open. However, he has criticised the BJP and the DMK, calling them "ideological enemy" and "political adversary", respectively.

Amit Shah has claimed that the first and foremost aim is to defeat the DMK.

Can AIADMK United TVK and BJP?

DMK Spokesperson TKS Elangovan says, "They will not win. Even AIADMK people will not vote for the BJP. They have insulted Anna and Periyar. The number of MLAs they have now will reduce further."

His reference is about former Tamil Nadu BJP chief Annamalai's critical comments on Dravidian stalwarts Annadurai and Periyar. His remarks had led to the AIADMK to end ties with the BJP ahead of the 2024 Lok Sabha polls.

On the other hand, Amit Shah's remarks that the NDA will form government in Tamil Nadu has created a controversy. However, the AIADMK has clarified that Edappadi K Palaniswami is the CM face. "EPS is the leader of NDA in Tamil Nadu. His word is final. All decisions on alliance, seat-sharing and leadership will be taken by him," The New Indian Express quoted former AIADMK minister KT Rajenthra Balaji as saying.
