The first general council meeting of actor Vijay's party Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) is underway in Thiruvanmayur on Friday.

The event has been organised on the occasion of the succesful completion of his party. It is being be held at Ramachandra Convention Hall in Thiruvanmayur in Chennai.

The venue was transformed into a spectacle of political fervor, with larger-than-life cutouts of party chief Vijay towering over the entrance-designed to mirror the iconic Tamil Nadu Secretariat. Banners and posters chronicling Vijay's political journey adorned the space, while the energetic beats of dhol and nagadas filled the air, setting the tone for a historic gathering.

Vijay's Political Ascent

Vijay stepped into politics in 2024, and his party, Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK), recently celebrated its first anniversary on February 26. The event saw the presence of Prashant Kishor, chief of Jan Suraj and a key strategist advising Vijay. With ambitions to reshape Tamil Nadu's political landscape, TVK aims to challenge the dominance of the two major Dravidian parties in the 2026 assembly elections.

Addressing a charged crowd in Chennai, Vijay declared, "The Union government must allocate funds, and the state has the right to demand them. But instead of addressing real issues, both sides are engaged in a staged drama, blaming each other, manipulating social media, and deceiving the people," Vijay said.

He likened their behaviour to that of "LKG-UKG students," accusing them of having a "setting" (prearranged agreement) to fight on social media while pretending to be serious.

"They fight like children, and we are supposed to believe it's real? What nonsense! Our TVK fans, on the other hand, simply enter the trend, drop a comment, and move on. People are not fools-they see through this drama," he added.
