Traffic Advisory: Chennai's Night Street Formula 4 Race To Cause Major Disruptions
Ahead of India's first night street Formula 4 race in Chennai, the city's traffic police have announced a series of road closures and diversions. These measures will be in place from August 30 to September 1 to facilitate the event. The race, set for August 31 and September 1, will unfold on a 3.5-kilometer circuit around Chennai's Island Stadium. As a result, significant traffic disruptions are anticipated in key areas, including Walaja Road, Anna Salai, Kamarajar Road, and EVR Road.
Heavy and light commercial vehicles will be prohibited from noon to 10 pm at Munram, Muthuswamy Point, and Paris Corner. Sivananda Salai and Kodimaram Road will be completely closed, with no alternative routes available for vehicles traveling from Kamaraj Road towards Santhome.

For those traveling from Central Light towards Anna Salai, traffic will proceed as usual up to the Pallavan Road Junction, where one lane from Pallavan Road Junction to Periyar Salai has been temporarily converted into a two-way.
Vehicles heading towards the War Memorial on Kamaraj Road will be diverted near the Labourer's Statue and directed to proceed via Walaja Road, Anna Salai, Periyar Statue, and EVR Road. Similarly, vehicles heading towards Walaja Point on Anna Road will be redirected to Central Light Point on Pallavan Road.
Additionally, traffic police have strictly prohibited vehicles from traveling from Muthuswamy Junction to Anna Salai and Kodi Maarachala. Instead, drivers should use Pallavan Road, EVR Road, Central Railway Station, and Periyamedu Gandhi Irwin to reach their destination.
