TN assembly urges Centre to boycott Commonwealth meeting in SL

Chief Minister Jayalalithaa moved the resolution during a short-duration session, which began on Wednesday. The TN assembly urged the Indian government not to be a part of the meeting and said that the governement should take steps to make sure that Sri Lanka is suspended from the Commonwealth heads of Government meeting (CHOGM) till Tamilians get equal rights.
TN: Even representatives must be sent for the meeting
Prime Minister Manmohan Singh had earlier informed the DMK that a decision on India's participation in the CHOGM would be taken considering all the relevant factorsand the sentiments of the people of Tamil Nadu.
The resolution said that India should not even send representatives for the meeting.
The main opposition parties the DMK, DMDK, Congress and the left parties hailed the resolution reflecting the sentiments of Tamils around the world.
