'Thunivu' lifetime box office collection: Here's how much Ajith's film collected in US

Chennai, Feb 11: Ajith Kumar's 'Thunivu' has become the biggest hit of his career at the US box office. The Tamil film was released on January 11 on the occasion of Pongal festival.

In the list of highest-grossing Tamil movies in the US, 'Thunivu' is in 14th place by earning $1,226,271 in its lifetime.

On the release day, 'Thunivu' earned $426,723, which was a good number of Ajith film at the US box office. The movie added 5,44,531 in the next four days to end its first weekend at $971,254. In the following days, the collection started dipping and ended its total business at $1,226,271.

Ajith's previous best was $522,091 set by 'Vivegam'. His 'Yennai Arindhaal' had raked in #515,694 in its lifetime.

Top 10 Movies at US Box Office
The list is topped by Mani Ratnam's magnum opus 'Ponniyin Selvan PartOne' which had collected $6,700,372, last year. Rajinikanth's '2.0' is in the second place by earning $5,509,317. His 'Kabali' is in the third spot by collecting $4,585,808.

Kamal Haasan's 'Vikram' is in the fourth place by raking in $2,858,359 followed by 'Petta' in the fifth spot as it made a collection of $2,553,065.

'Thunivu' has Ajith and Manju Warrier in the leads. It is an action heist film written and directed by H Vinoth and produced by Boney Kapoor. Samuthirakani, Dileepan, Ajay Kumar, Rituraj Singh and others are part of the cast.

This is the third collaboration of Ajith, H Vinoth and Boney Kapoor after 'Nerkonda Paarvai' and 'Valimai'. It is an action heist film that revolves around a bank robbery. 'Thunivu' has been overwhelmingly received by the fans of Ajith. Notably, the movie attracted youths more than family audience which is the reason why the collection of the flick is quite lesser than Vijay's 'Varisu'.
