Former CM Karunanidhi died 5 years ago and the Tamil Nadu government under CM Stalin is grandly celebrating his centenary birthday anniversary. As a part of centenary birthday celebrations, CM Stalin has inaugurated Kalaignar Multispecialty hospital worth of 3.76 crores in Guindy, Chennai and a 7000 square feet Kalaignar Kottam worth of 12 crores in Thiruvarur, the native place of Kalaignar. Apart from this, CM Stalin also inaugurated Kalaignar centenary library worth 215 crores in Madurai. Now CM has unveiled a monthly cash dole scheme for Tamil Nadu women guaranteeing Rs.1000 every month.

Ponnambala Adigalar said, "I met Kalaignar for the first time in Sivaganga during the period of caste riots in southern districts. We visited the conflict-ridden areas for peacekeeping works on the request of Karunanidhi and submitted a report to him regarding the conditions of the conflict-ridden areas."

Karunanidhi implemented the recommendation immediately by allotting crores of money for building houses with concrete roofs. During this discussion only the concept of Samathuvapuram (Equality village) came into being. In villages, streets were categorised based on castes. Realising this, Karunanidhi introduced the Samathuvapuram scheme whose objective is to make sure that the people from different castes and religions live together”, said Ponnambala Adigalar. He continued, “….we went to Coimbatore for peacekeeping work after the bomb blast. Reading the report of Coimbatore, Karunanidhi took immediate measures for giving out compensation for the victims. He is the sole reason for Tamil language becoming a classical language. When Tamil language attained classical status, a conference was held in Madurai to celebrate the accomplishment. In that conference, we presented him with a golden amla (resembling the Athiyaman king and Avvaiyar story). Apart from this, Karunanidhi built Valluvar Kottam in Chennai and built a large statue of Thiruvalluvar in Kanyakumari. Adding to this, he wrote a detailed explanation for Thirukkural. Karunanidhi contributed a lot for the growth of Tamil language.” Professor Abdul Kader said, “…the year is 1965 or 1966, the time when the language war was led by the students. We conducted around 60 meetings to further our cause. Karunanidhi participated in the first meeting and gave a life lesson with the example of an egg. He said that, there are 2 births for Brahmins, one is when they come to the world and the other is when they start studying. The same is the case for eggs also, where the first birth is when the egg comes out of the hen and the second is when the chick hatches out of the shell.” He continued, “…Karunanidhi said that the egg may contain either hen or rooster. The rooster crows at the time of sunrise and the hen which is edible lays eggs also. They are rich in protein even though they consume insects and other things from garbage. Karunanidhi said that no one should underestimate the power of others. This message is still fresh in my memory”, said Prof. Abdul Kader. Maybe that’s why he started the practice of giving eggs to children in school as a part of the Mid-day meal scheme after he came to power!!!!
