Tamil Nadu Weather Update: Will High Temperatures Keep The Voters Away From Polling Booth?
Amid rains a few regions, the heat continues to take a toll on people. The temperatures are predicted to cross 40°C in a few districts including Chennai in the days to come.
The question that now comes to one's mind is whether the soaring temperature affects the polling for the 39 Lok Sabha seats across the state on Friday.

A Heat Wave is expected to hit Tamil Nadu starting Thursday. Chennai could experience its first 40 degrees Celsius later this week, with the Delta region and northern Tamil Nadu set to sizzle. Some areas in inland Tamil Nadu may even surpass 42 degrees Celsius, as per weather blogger R Pradeep John, known as Tamil Nadu Weatherman.
In the southern parts of Tamil Nadu, including Thoothukudi, Nellai, Thenkasi, Virudhunagar, and parts of Kanyakumari and Ramanathapuram, rain is expected today. However, temperatures will begin to rise again in areas like Erode, Namakkal, Salem, and Karur, likely reaching 40 degrees Celsius. This week, coinciding with election time, Chennai may witness its first 40-degree Celsius day.
Interior Chennai is forecasted to reach around 36 degrees Celsius, while coastal areas may see temperatures around 35 degrees Celsius today. However, as the week progresses, temperatures are expected to rise in northern Tamil Nadu, affecting areas such as Chennai, Tiruvallur, Vellore, Ranipet, Tirupattur, Tiruvannamalai, Villupuram, Delta, Cuddalore, Pondy, and Kallakuruchi.
Giving update about the weather of the state's capital, he wrote, "Chennai interior would be around 36 while near coast would be around 35 C. today but as we go into week the temp in north TN in Chennai, Tiruvallur, Vellore, Ranipet, Tirupattur, Tiruvannamalai, Villupuram, Delta, Cuddalore, Pondy, Kallakuruchi."
According to the latest press release of the Regional Meteorological Department, tn the 24-hour period ending at 8.30 today, maximum temperatures across Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, and Karaikal were generally close to normal. In specific regions, temperatures ranged from 37°C to 40°C in the plains of north interior Tamil Nadu, 33°C to 37°C in the north coastal areas and plains of south Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, and Karaikal, and 19°C to 29°C in the hilly areas.
The highest maximum temperature was recorded in Erode at 40.2°C (a deviation of +2.4°C), followed by Salem at 39.8°C (a deviation of +2.0°C). Chennai reported a normal maximum temperature, with MBK at 36.0°C and NBK at 34.6°C.
As far as the Chennai weather is concerned, the sky is expected to be partly cloudy, with a maximum temperature ranging between 36-37°C and a minimum temperature around 27°C in the next 24 hours.
