Tamil Nadu Weather Update: Vepur Receives 20 CM Rainfall; Several Dists To Get Heavy Rains For Next 48 Hours
The Regional Meteorological Centre (RMC) has forecast heavy to very heavy rains for several districts in Tamil Nadu over the next 48 hours.
In its daily bulletin, the RMC issued a yellow alert for the Nilgiris, Ghat areas of Coimbatore, Tenkasi, Tirunelveli, and Kanyakumari districts, indicating the likelihood of heavy to very heavy rainfall. Also, a yellow alert has been issued for Erode, Tiruppur, Dindigul, Theni, Madurai, and Virudhunagar districts, signaling heavy rains.

According to the RMC's prediction, Dindigul, Theni, Tenkasi, Tirunelveli, and Kanyakumari districts are expected to experience heavy rains tomorrow.
The weather monitoring agency said that Chennai's sky condition is expected to be partly cloudy for next two days. Light rain may occur in some areas. The maximum temperature is likely to be between 36-37°C, while the minimum temperature is expected to be around 28°C.
On Wednesday, Vepur in the Cuddalore district recorded the highest rainfall in Tamil Nadu, with 20 cm. This was followed by 18 cm in Kattumayilur (Cuddalore district), 17 cm in Villupuram (Villupuram district), and 14 cm in Mylaudy (Kanniyakumari district). Lakkur and Tozhudur, both in Cuddalore district, recorded 13 cm each. Kunderipallam (Erode district), Valparai Taluk Office (Coimbatore district), and Thammampatty (Salem district) each recorded 12 cm of rainfall. Valparai PAP (Coimbatore district) and Kodanad (The Nilgiris district) each received 11 cm. Lastly, Avinashi (Tiruppur district), Geddai (The Nilgiris district), and Gobichettipalayam (Erode district) each recorded 10 cm of rainfall.

During the 24-hour period ending at 08:30 am today, maximum temperatures were generally below normal across Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, and Karaikal. The highest maximum temperature was recorded at Erode, reaching 37.6°C.
In the plains of interior Tamil Nadu, temperatures ranged from 32-36°C, while the coastal areas of Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, and Karaikal recorded temperatures between 30°C and 33°C. In the hilly regions, temperatures ranged from 19°C to 26°C.
In Chennai, maximum temperatures were below normal, with Meenambakkam recording 36.2°C (2.9°C below normal) and Nungambakkam recording 35.4°C (2.8°C below normal).
