Tamil Nadu Weather Update: RMC Issues Yellow Alert As Heavy Rains To Lash 20 Districts
The Regional Meteorological Centre (RMC) has issued a yellow alert for 20 districts in Tamil Nadu, predicting heavy rainfall on Friday.
The affected districts include Pudukottai, Thanjavur, Thiruvarur, Nagapattinam, Mayiladuthurai, Cuddalore, Villupuram, Chengalpattu, Kancheepuram, Ranipet, Ariyalur, Perambalur, Kallakurichi, Vellore, Tiruvannamalai, Tirupattur, Tiruchirapalli, Krishnagiri, Dharmapuri, and Salem.

The heavy rains are expected to continue into Saturday, impacting 13 districts, including Pudukottai, Thanjavur, Thiruvarur, Nagapattinam, Kallakurichi, Ariyalur, Perambalur, Tiruchirapalli, Nilgiris, Erode, Salem, Cuddalore, and Mayiladuthurai.
The weather forecast indicates that these conditions will likely persist for the next three days, bringing widespread rainfall across the state.
In Chennai, the sky is expected to be partly cloudy, with thunderstorms and lightning accompanied by light to moderate rain in some areas. The maximum temperature is predicted to be around 36-37°C, while the minimum temperature is expected to range from 26-27°C.
On Thursday, Villupuram's Vanur recorded the highest rainfall at 8 cm, followed by 6 cm in Kudimiyanmalai (Pudukkottai district). Other areas with significant rainfall include Emerald in The Nilgiris, Avalurpettai in Villupuram, Vamban KVK AWS in Pudukkottai, and Panapakkam in Ranipet.
