Tamil Nadu Weather Update: Madurai Scorches At 41°C, Chennai At 39.2°C
Tamil Nadu continues to endure a scorching September, with no respite from the intense heat. On Tuesday, five districts in the state recorded temperatures above 39°C, with Madurai leading the way at a blistering 41°C, marking the hottest day of the month.
According to weather blogger R Pradeep John, popularly known as "Tamil Nadu Weatherman," Madurai has consistently set new temperature records this month. "Madurai AP is the hottest place in India this month, breaking its all-time record again," he shared in an update. The city's previous highest temperatures for September include:

- 41.0°C on 18.09.2024
- 40.8°C on 05.09.2024
- 40.6°C on 14.09.2024
- 40.4°C on 10.09.2019
- 40.3°C on 16.09.2024
Other districts are also feeling the heat, with Erode recording 39.6°C, Nagapattinam at 39.3°C, Chennai at 39.2°C, and Thanjavur at 39°C.
Another weather blogger, who runs the "Chennai Rains" social media page, warned of persistent dry weather across the state, with temperatures expected to remain 3 to 5°C above normal. "Chennai and its suburbs are likely to see another 38°C day under clear skies," he posted on X (formerly Twitter).
The Regional Meteorological Centre (RMC) confirmed that light to moderate westerlies and northwesterlies continue to prevail at lower tropospheric levels. In its forecast, the RMC stated, "Light to moderate rain with thunderstorm and lightning is likely to occur at isolated places over Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, and Karaikal areas."
Despite this, widespread relief from the heat remains elusive as dry conditions persist across most parts of the state.
