Tamil Nadu Weather Update: Heavy Rains To Lash 19 Districts As RMC Issues Yellow Alert For 2 Days
Heavy rains are expected to hit 19 districts in Tamil Nadu on Thursday and Friday, according to the Regional Meteorological Centre (RMC).
A yellow alert has been issued for several areas, including Nilgiris, Coimbatore, Tiruppur, Dindigul, Theni, Tenkasi, Tirunelveli, Kanyakumari, Erode, Krishnagiri, Dharmapuri, Salem, Namakkal, Kallakurichi, Perambalur, Ariyalur, Cuddalore, Villupuram, and Mayiladuthurai. The alert also covers Puducherry and Karaikal for the next two days.

In Chennai, the sky is expected to remain partly cloudy with a chance of light to moderate rain, thunderstorms, and lightning in some areas. The maximum temperature is predicted to be between 33-34°C, while the minimum temperature may range between 26-27°C.
The RMC further reported on Cyclonic Storm "DANA," which intensified over the Bay of Bengal. As of October 24th, the storm had intensified into a severe cyclonic storm, centered around 210 km southeast of Paradip (Odisha). The storm is expected to move towards the Odisha and West Bengal coasts, crossing between Puri and Sagar Island with wind speeds of 100-110 km/h, gusting up to 120 km/h, from late night on October 24th to early morning on the 25th.

Parangipettai recorded the highest temperature in the state on Wednesday at 35°C, while Erode saw the lowest at 18.5°C. Kelavarapalli Dam in Krishnagiri and Thuckalay in Kanyakumari recorded the heaviest rainfall at 12 cm. Other significant rainfall figures included 11 cm in Kovilpatti (Thoothukudi), 10 cm in Krishnagiri, Sankarapuram (Kallakurichi), and Ambur (Tirupathur), and 9 cm in Bhavanisagar (Erode).
