Tamil Nadu Weather Update: Ambattur Gets 13 CM Rain; Heavy Downpour Expected In 24 Districts In Next 2 Days
Several areas in Tamil Nadu have experienced heavy rainfall, with Zone 07 Ambattur (Chennai district), Avadi (Tiruvallur district), and Zone 07 U18 D81 Vanagaram (Chennai district) receiving the highest amounts of rain, registering 13 cm.
This was closely followed by Zone 08 Malar Colony (Chennai district), which recorded 12 cm and 11 cm in two different locations. Other areas that saw significant rainfall include Zone 02 Manali (10 cm), Zone 06 T.V.K Nagar (9 cm), and multiple locations in Tiruvallur and Chennai districts.

Weather Forecast for Tamil Nadu
The Regional Meteorological Centre (RMC) has issued a warning of more heavy rain in the coming days. For today, six districts, including Kancheepuram, Chengalpattu, Villupuram, Tiruvannamalai, Kallakurichi, and Salem, are expected to receive heavy rainfall. Light to moderate rain, accompanied by thunderstorms and lightning, is likely in parts of North Tamil Nadu, South Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, and Karaikal.
Looking ahead to September 28, the RMC forecasts light to moderate rain with thunderstorms and lightning across Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, and Karaikal, with 21 districts expected to receive heavy rains. These districts include Coimbatore, Vellore, Krishnagiri, Tiruppur, Erode, Madurai, and Kanyakumari.
For September 29, the weather agency predicts more widespread rain, particularly in the Ghat areas of Coimbatore, Nilgiris, Theni, Dindigul, and Tirunelveli.
Chennai Weather Update
In Chennai, the RMC forecasts partly cloudy skies, with moderate rain and thunderstorms likely in some areas. The maximum temperature is expected to range between 33-34°C, with a minimum temperature between 25-26°C. Residents are advised to stay updated on weather alerts and take necessary precautions as heavy rains continue across the state.
