Tamil Nadu Weather Update: 14 Districts To Get Heavy Rains Today, 9 Tomorrow
Fourteen districts in Tamil Nadu are set to receive heavy rainfall on Wednesday, with nine districts expecting more showers on Thursday, according to the Regional Meteorological Centre's daily bulletin.
In a statement from the India Meteorological Department (IMD), it was noted that heavy rain is likely to occur in isolated places across Nilgiris, Coimbatore, Tiruppur, Theni, Dindigul, Erode, Salem, Namakkal, Krishnagiri, Dharmapuri, Tirupattur, Tenkasi, Tirunelveli, and Kanyakumari districts on Wednesday. On Thursday, districts such as Nilgiris, Coimbatore, Erode, Dharmapuri, Krishnagiri, Salem, Tirupattur, Tiruvannamalai, and Kallakurichi are expected to witness similar weather conditions.

The IMD also reported the development of Cyclonic Storm "DANA" over the east-central Bay of Bengal. The storm, which started as a depression on October 22, intensified into a deep depression and later into a cyclonic storm by 5:30 AM IST on October 23. As of 8:30 AM, it was located near latitude 16.5°N and longitude 89.6°E, around 520 km southeast of Paradip (Odisha), 600 km south-southeast of Sagar Island (West Bengal), and 610 km south-southeast of Khepupara (Bangladesh). The storm is expected to move northwestwards in the coming hours.
In Chennai, the sky is expected to be partly cloudy, with light to moderate rain accompanied by thunderstorms and lightning in some areas. The maximum temperature in the city is likely to range between 34°C and 35°C, while the minimum temperature is expected to hover around 26°C to 27°C.
On Tuesday, several regions in Tamil Nadu, including Coimbatore, Tiruppur, Sholayar, and Manapparai, experienced heavy rainfall, marking the start of the monsoon activity in the region.
