Tamil Nadu Weather Alert: 19 Dist To Get Heavy Rains Today; Expect Moderate Showers In Chennai
Nineteen districts across Tamil Nadu are on yellow alert for heavy rains on the day of the Deepavali celebration.
As per the Regional Meteorological Centre, Dindigul, Madurai, Tiruchirappalli, Karur, Namakkal, Salem, Erode, Dharmapuri, Ariyalur, Perambalur, Cuddalore, Mayiladuthurai, Thanjavur, Pudukkottai, Sivaganga, Virudhunagar, Tenkasi, Tirunelveli and Kanyakumari districts will get heavy rains today.

The weather agency has predicted light to moderate rains in Tamil Nadu's capital Chennai. In its daily bulletin, the RMC said, "Sky condition is likely to be partly cloudy. Light/moderate rain with thunderstorms and lightning is likely to occur in some areas. Maximum temperature is likely to be around 33°C and Minimum temperature is likely to be 25-26°C."
On Friday, Tirunelveli and Kanyakumari districts are predicted to get heavy rains.
Also, Nilgiris, Coimbatore, Tiruppur, Erode, Karur, Tiruchirappalli, Theni, Dindigul, Madurai, Virudhunagar, Pudukkottai, Sivaganga, Tenkasi, Thoothukudi and Ramanathapuram districts are on yellow alert.

On Wednesday, Zone 08 Malar Colony in Chennai district got the highest rains at 11 cms. It is followed by 10 cms at Good Will School Villivakkam ARG (dist Tiruvallur), 9 cms at Ayanavaram Taluk Office (dist Chennai) and 7 cms Karaikal (dist Karaikal), Zone 06 T.V.K Nagar (dist Chennai), Zone 06 D65 Kolathur (dist
Chennai).
The rains are expected to play spoilsport to Deepavali celebration in Tamil Nadu.
Responding to the rains, weather interpreter Pradeep John on his Facebook page said: "The clouds which gave intense rains to Anna Nagar has weakened and moved in land.
GCC Anna Nagar West - 111 mm followed by IMD Villivakkam 99 mm, GCC Shenoy Nagar 78 mm, GCC Kolathur 71 mm. But same time some part of City missed the rains too.
Not every day we can see such extreme spells. Tomorrow Diwali isolated rains possible in KTCC (Chennai) and chances like today rains are less."
According to him, the rains will not impact the festive celebration in (Kancheepuram, Tiruvallur, Chennai, Chengalpattu).
