Tamil Nadu Weather Alert: 14 Districts To Get Heavy Rains Today
The Regional Meteorological Centre has forecast heavy rainfall across 14 districts in Tamil Nadu, prompting alerts to be issued for Friday.
An orange alert has been declared for Kanyakumari, Tirunelveli, and Thoothukudi, indicating significant rainfall is expected in these regions. Meanwhile, a yellow alert has been issued for Cuddalore, Mayiladuthurai, Nagapattinam, Tiruvarur, Thanjavur, Pudukkottai, Ramanathapuram, Sivaganga, Tenkasi, Virudhunagar, and Madurai, warning residents of potentially disruptive weather.

For the weekend, heavy rainfall is anticipated in five districts-Mayiladuthurai, Nagapattinam, Tiruvarur, Thanjavur, and Pudukkottai-both on Saturday and Sunday.
In Chennai, the sky is expected to remain partly cloudy, with light to moderate rain accompanied by thunderstorms and lightning predicted in some areas. The city's maximum temperature is expected to range between 32-33°C, while the minimum temperature is forecast to be between 25-26°C.
However, on Thursday, Zone 02 D15 Manali (Chennai district) received 11 cm of rain, followed by Zone 03 Madhavaram (Chennai district) at 10 cm. Sembanarkoil in Mayiladuthurai, Velankanni in Nagapattinam, and Madhavaram CMWSSB in Chennai reported 9 cm each, while Zone 02 Manali registered another 8 cm.
The meteorological center explained that orange alert signals expected rainfall between 115.6 to 204.4 mm in a day, indicating potentially severe weather conditions. A yellow alert, on the other hand, serves as a general warning for adverse weather that may disrupt normal activities.
