Tamil Nadu Weather: 11 Districts Today, 7 Tomorrow On Yellow Alert; Chennai To Get Light Rains

Starting Monday, several districts in Tamil Nadu will get heavy rains. The Regional Meteorological Department has issued yellow alerts for parts of the state for the next four days.

According to the daily bulletin, 11 districts, including Vellore, Tirupattur, Ranipet, Tiruvannamalai, Kallakurichi, Villuppuram, Cuddalore, Ariyalur, Mayiladuthurai, Krishnagiri, and Dharmapuri, are on yellow alert on Monday.

However, 7 districts such as Erode, Krishnagiri, Dharmapuri, Tirupattur, Vellore, Ranipet and Tiruvannamalai has been issued a yellow alert for Tuesday.

For Wednesday, 15 districts such as Thanjavur, Tiruvarur, Nagapattinam, Mayiladuthurai, Tiruchirappalli, Ariyalur, Cuddalore, Pudukkottai, Perambalur, Villuppuram, Tiruvannamalai, Kallakurichi, Dharmapuri, Krishnagiri, and Nilgiris are on yellow alert.

On Thursday, 12 districts such as Coimbatore, Nilgiris, Theni, Tenkasi, Krishnagiri, Dharmapuri, Tirupattur, Vellore, Ranipet, Tiruvallur, Tiruvannamalai and Kancheepuram districts.

A yellow alert is issued for potentially adverse weather that could cause minor disruptions and the rainfall might range from 64.5 mm - 115.5 mm rain.

As far as the Chennai weather is concerned, the weather agency has predicted thunderstorms and lightning with light to moderate rain in some areas.

The meteorological department also noted that maximum temperatures were 2-4°C above normal in a few places across Tamil Nadu and Puducherry. Elsewhere in Tamil Nadu and Karaikal, temperatures remained near normal.

Puducherry reported the highest maximum temperature of 40.0°C on Sunday, topping the list. Other significant temperatures recorded across the state included Madurai (39.6°C), Vellore (39.4°C), Tiruchirappalli (38.3°C), Palayamkottai (39.2°C), Karur Paramathi (39°C), Cuddalore (38.8°C), and Chennai (38.7°C).

Talking about the rain predictions, weather blogger R Pradeep John, in a post, wrote: Today looks good too for rains across North Tamil Nadu is favorable for getting thunderstorms Parts of Chennai and KTCC, Vellore, Ranipet, Tv Malai, Cuddalore, Ariyalur, Delta regions of Karaikkal, Nagai, Tiruvarur, Thanjavur, Kallakuruchi, Salem, Bangalore etc."
