Tamil Nadu: Voter List Verification Process Kicks Off: Key Dates To Note

The door-to-door voter list verification process has officially begun today across Tamil Nadu, marking the start of a comprehensive effort to ensure the accuracy and integrity of the state's electoral rolls.

This extensive verification process, which will run from August 20 to October 18, is set to involve various crucial tasks aimed at updating and correcting the voter list ahead of future elections.

During this period, officials will meticulously verify the voter list, addressing any discrepancies that may exist between the voter list and voter ID cards. They will also take steps to reorder polling booth stations, update photos in the voter list, and realign area boundaries as necessary to reflect any changes in local demographics or administrative divisions.

Once the verification process is complete, a consolidated draft voter list will be released on October 29. This will initiate a month-long window, from October 29 to November 28, during which applications will be accepted for adding new names to the voter list, deleting existing entries, and making any necessary corrections or transfers in the electoral roll.

All applications related to these changes must be submitted by December 24. The final, updated voter list is scheduled to be published on January 6, 2025.
