Tamil Nadu TNPSC Group 4 Notification 2025: Where To Download Job Notification Online? All Deets Inside
The job seekers in the state can expect a major announcement from the Tamil Nadu Public Service Commission (TNPSC) for various positions across the state.
An official notification on Group 4 is expected to be out on Friday, April 25. As per its annual recruitment calendar, the detailed notification is set to drop on April 25 on the TNPSC's official website.

When Will The Group 4 Exams Be Conducted This Year?
This year's Group 4 exam will be held on July 13, 2025, and is expected to attract a huge number of candidates eyeing clerical and administrative roles in various state departments. While the final count of vacancies hasn't been made public yet, last year's recruitment covered more than 6,200 positions-including Village Administrative Officer (VAO), Junior Assistant, Typist, and Steno-Typist, among others.
What the Notification Will Contain
The job aspirants will get all the information around number of vacancies, positions, eligibility norms, age relaxations, selection process, application fee, and key dates.
Eligibility
To be eligible for the Group 4 posts, candidates must:
- Be Indian nationals
- Have cleared the SSLC (10th standard) or an equivalent qualification
- Possess proficiency in the Tamil language (preferred but not mandatory for all roles)
- Hold typing certification for positions like Typist and Steno-Typist (where applicable)
Age Criteria
Age limits differ based on the role and candidate category. For most jobs, it is18 to 32 years. For the reserved categories, it is extended up to 42 years.
For instance:
- VAO Post: Minimum age is 21 years
- Others: Varies from 18 to 37 years depending on the category
- Special consideration is given to widows, SC/ST, MBC, BC, and differently-abled individuals
How to Apply for TNPSC Group 4 Exam
The application process will be conducted online via the TNPSC's official portal-tnpsc.gov.in. Applicants must first register on the One Time Registration (OTR) system. After that, they can proceed to fill the application form for the exam.

- Visit the TNPSC website and access the "Apply Online" section
- Choose the Group 4 exam link
- Fill in personal, educational, and contact details
- Upload necessary documents (photo, signature, mark sheets)
- Submit the application fee
- Verify and finalize the application
Application Fee:
- OTR Registration Fee: ₹150 (valid for 5 years)
- Examination Fee: ₹100 (waivers available for select categories like SC/ST, PwD, and ex-servicemen)
- A correction window of 3 days will be available post-submission for any changes to the application.
Exam Format & Subjects
The TNPSC Group 4 written examination will be a single-paper test lasting 3 hours, with a maximum of 300 marks. There is no negative marking.
Sections include:
- Part A - Tamil Eligibility-cum-Scoring Test (Optional for non-native speakers)
- Part B - General Studies: Indian History, Constitution, Geography, Science, Economics, Current Affairs
- Part C - Aptitude and Mental Ability: Logical reasoning, arithmetic, visual and data interpretation
Syllabus Highlights
Topics span from basic physics and chemistry to Indian governance, economic policies, and environmental awareness. Math problems based on percentages, interest, averages, ratios, and geometry are part of the Aptitude section. Logical puzzles and pattern recognition will also feature prominently.
What Happens After the Written Test?
Candidates who clear the exam will move on to the document verification stage. Only those with valid documents and eligibility proof will make it to the final selection list, followed by counselling and posting.
