Tamil Nadu SSLC Results Date: After Class 12, DGE Is Set To Announce Class 10 Results

The Tamil Nadu Directorate of Government Examinations (DGE) is preparing to release the results of the Class 10 Secondary School Leaving Certificate (SSLC) examinations on May 20, following the recent declaration of Class 12 results.

The SSLC examinations for the 2026 batch were conducted between March 11 and April 6. This year, a total of 9,09,002 candidates appeared for the exams. Among them were 8,82,806 school students from 12,467 institutions, 25,801 private candidates, and 395 candidates from prisons. To accommodate this large number of examinees, the School Education Department set up 4,219 examination centres across Tamil Nadu.

The announcement comes shortly after the release of Class 12 results on May 8, which showcased an impressive overall pass percentage of 95.20 per cent. This marks a slight improvement over last year's 95.03 per cent, continuing the state's steady upward trajectory in academic performance. Out of 7,91,654 students who appeared for the higher secondary exams held between March 2 and March 26, as many as 7,53,694 cleared them successfully.

As has been the trend in recent years, girls outperformed boys by a notable margin. While 97 per cent of girls passed the Class 12 exams, the pass percentage among boys stood at 93.19 per cent. Out of 4,18,724 girls who appeared, 4,06,167 passed, whereas 3,47,527 boys cleared the exams out of 3,72,930 candidates. This gender gap of 3.81 percentage points highlights the consistent academic strength of female students in the state.

Tamil Nadu's Class 12 results have shown consistent improvement over the past five years. In 2022, the pass percentage was 93.76 per cent, which rose to 94.03 per cent in 2023, 94.56 per cent in 2024, 95.03 per cent in 2025, and now 95.20 per cent in 2026. This steady rise reflects the state's commitment to enhancing educational standards.

Out of the 7,536 higher secondary schools in Tamil Nadu, 2,639 institutions recorded a perfect 100 per cent pass rate. Additionally, 5,170 schools achieved pass percentages above 95 per cent. Government schools also delivered commendable performances, with 489 securing a flawless 100 per cent result and 1,572 crossing the 95 per cent threshold.

Performance varied across streams, with Science students achieving the highest success rate at 96.90 per cent. Commerce students followed with 92.67 per cent, while Arts and Vocational streams registered pass percentages of 85.19 per cent and 85.97 per cent respectively.

With the Class 12 results setting a strong precedent, attention now turns to the upcoming SSLC results. The outcome will determine the academic progress of over nine lakh students and is expected to further highlight Tamil Nadu's growing educational achievements.
