Tamil Nadu is gearing up for intense rainfall over the next two days, with the Regional Meteorological Centre issuing alerts across several districts.

A Red Alert has been sounded for Chengalpattu, Villuppuram, Cuddalore, Mayiladuthurai, Nagapattinam, Puducherry, and Karaikal, signalling the likelihood of extremely heavy rain in these areas. In total, 24 districts are expected to experience significant rainfall on Saturday.

The alert system has categorized districts based on expected rainfall intensity. Red Alerts are in place for Chennai, Tiruvallur, Chengalpattu, Kancheepuram, Villuppuram, Kallakurichi, and Cuddalore, indicating severe weather conditions.

Orange Alerts have been issued for Ranipet, Tiruvannamalai, Vellore, Perambalur, Ariyalur, Thanjavur, Tiruvarur, Mayiladuthurai, Nagapattinam, and Karaikal, while Yellow Alerts cover Tirupattur, Krishnagiri, Dharmapuri, Salem, Namakkal, Tiruchirappalli, Pudukkottai, and Karur.
