Tamil Nadu Rains: Check Weather Forecast For Next 4 Days

The week began with torrential downpours as the KTCC region (Kancheepuram, Tiruvallur, Chennai, and Chengalpattu) was battered by heavy rains on Monday and Tuesday.

Streets were flooded, residents took to higher ground, and many were confined indoors. But by Wednesday noon, the rains had receded, giving way to sunshine. For weary residents, the break in rain was a relief, with the sun emerging just in time to help drain floodwaters and brighten spirits. However, the respite might be short-lived, with weather forecasts indicating more rain to come.

Tamil Nadu Weather Forecast For 4 Days

The Regional Meteorological Centre (RMC) predicted another wave of heavy rains for Friday evening, with a yellow alert issued for Friday in six districts: Vellore, Tirupattur, Krishnagiri, Dharmapuri, Salem, and Erode. The weekend weather outlook looked mixed, with rain predicted for parts of Tamil Nadu on Saturday.

By Sunday and Monday, the rains were expected to intensify, particularly in the ghat regions of Coimbatore and Tiruppur, along with numerous other districts, including Ranipet, Vellore, and Tiruchirappalli.

For Chennai, the RMC forecasted a partly cloudy sky with a slight chance of scattered thunderstorms and lightning, expecting daytime temperatures of 33-34°C and nighttime lows around 25-26°C for today.

Popular Chennai weather interpreter, R. Pradeep John, better known as Tamil Nadu Weatherman, confirmed the break in rains. "Not a single drop of rain since yesterday noon," PJ noted, explaining that the depression had weakened significantly as it moved closer to Nellore, showing no signs of cloud activity. This break left the KTCC region sunlit and relatively dry. PJ, however, cautioned that "veppa salanam" rains, the heat-induced storms characteristic of Tamil Nadu, could appear from Wednesday evening into Thursday morning.

Residents in areas like Chennai, Pondicherry, Villupuram, and Cuddalore were advised to stay prepared for potential thunderstorms overnight. He reminded everyone that these showers would be scattered, with some areas experiencing heavy rains while others might remain dry.

While the sunny break midweek offered a welcome relief, the rain forecast left residents and local authorities bracing for another round of heavy rains, poised for whatever the skies might bring in the days ahead.
