Tamil Nadu Polls 2026: PMK Announces Final 15 Candidates, Completes NDA Seat List

The Pattali Makkal Katchi (PMK), led by Anbumani Ramadoss, has announced candidates for the remaining 15 constituencies allotted to it in the AIADMK-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) for the upcoming Tamil Nadu Assembly elections, completing its full slate of 18 seats in the alliance.

The party had already declared nominees for three constituencies earlier. With the latest list now out, PMK has finalised all its candidates, signalling that it is ready to enter a high-stakes electoral contest as part of the NDA in Tamil Nadu.

Sowmiya Anbumani to Contest from Dharmapuri

Among the key names in the latest announcement, Sowmiya Anbumani, wife of PMK president Anbumani Ramadoss, has been fielded from Dharmapuri, a constituency seen as an important political stronghold for the party.

In Chennai's Perambur constituency, PMK treasurer Thilagavathy has been named as the candidate. The seat is expected to draw significant attention in the campaign, as Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) leader Vijay is also contesting from Perambur, setting up one of the most closely watched battles in the state.

Key Battles in Tiruporur and Kattumannarkoil

In another notable development, Anbu Cholan, who had reportedly declined to enter the contest earlier, has now been nominated from Tiruporur. He is set to face advocate K. Balu in what could become a closely followed contest.

The reserved Kattumannarkoil constituency is also shaping up to be a politically significant battle. PMK has decided to field its candidate there against VCK leader Thol. Thirumavalavan, adding further weight to the constituency's importance in the election.

PMK Reshuffles Sitting Faces in Strategic Seats

The party has also carried out strategic adjustments in constituencies where it already has established faces. Mailam MLA Sivakumar has been shifted to Vikravandi, while former AIADMK minister and Rajya Sabha MP C.V. Shanmugam will now contest from Mailam.

Similarly, Mettur MLA C. Sadasivam has been moved to Salem North, a shift that points to PMK's effort to recalibrate its strength in key regions ahead of the election.

Full Candidate Slate Signals Poll Readiness

Apart from the headline names, PMK has also announced Dr Tamilarasi Adhiyaman, State Secretary of the Pattali Mahila Sangam, from Vridhachalam, and former MLA Karthi from Salem West.

The rest of the candidates include party State Vice-President Padi Selvam from Pennagaram, C.R. Bhaskaran from Polur, Joint General Secretary Vaithi from Jayankondam, advocate K. Saravanan from Sholingur, Siddhamalli Palaniswami from Mayiladuthurai, P. Maheshkumar from Uthiramerur, and A.P. Chezhiyan from Rishivandiyam.

With the final 15 names now declared, PMK has completed its candidate list for all 18 constituencies allotted to it under the AIADMK-led NDA, marking a major milestone in its preparations for the Tamil Nadu Assembly elections.
