Tamil Nadu Election 2016: The app that gives all info on May 16 polls

Chennai, May 6: The May 16 Assembly election in Tamil Nadu is one of the most digitised in the history of the state. Besides various initiatives in the social media, the election has also featured in the android application.

Tamil Nadu Election 2016 is an android application which gives one all important details about candidates contesting the 234 constituencies in the state. "A technology company has a lot of stake in shaping society, in today's world and times. I was discussing the upcoming elections with some acquaintances when I realized there are people who completely lack awareness about elections and candidates in their own constituency," The News Minute quoted Sivaraman R, Director of Hard and Soft Technologies, and also application's developer, as saying. When one enters the zone, district and constituency, the application provides information about the winners of the 2011 election. It also provides details about the number of voters---both men and women---in the constituency.

The application will also have additional features like the candidates' declared assets and liabilities and integrate the Election Commission's data to check whether one's voter identification is still valid.
