A goat in a Tamil Nadu village has given birth to a stillborn kid with a human-like face. It has come to light at Sendamangalam village near Ulundurpet, where a goat owned by a farmer named Anandan delivered two baby goats. While one was normal, the other had distinct facial features resembling a human, Oneindia Tamil reported.

News of the unusual birth spread rapidly, drawing crowds of curious onlookers who viewed the deceased animal with a mixture of awe and fear. This event is the latest in a series of similar occurrences in India where animals have been born with severe deformities.

Anandan, a 38-year-old resident, raises more than 20 goats at his home. Yesterday, one of his goats gave birth to two kids. One kid was normal, but the other was unusual, with a human-like face. However, it was stillborn.

News of the lamb born with a human-like appearance spread quickly throughout the surrounding area. Soon, a large crowd gathered at Anandan's house. Everyone looked at the stillborn lamb with wonder and surprise. This news is now trending on the internet.

This is not the first time goats have been born with human-like features. On many occasions, in various places, animals like goats and cows give birth to offspring with such rare appearances.

Villagers consider these births to be extraordinary. Mostly, animals born with such defects do not survive. Many are stillborn. Recently, a deformed calf was born in the Bardhaman district of West Bengal.

It survived for only four months, and the locals worshipped it devoutly. Similarly, such deformed animals are often seen as a sign of God. On the other hand, some villagers believe that if goats or cows give birth to offspring with strange forms, it is a harbinger of some misfortune.

Local beliefs are divided. Some villagers view such births as a divine sign or an incarnation of a deity, citing a recent case in West Bengal where a deformed calf was worshipped before it died. Conversely, others see it as a bad omen, fearing that it signals impending disaster for the community. The villagers in Sendamangalam are reportedly fearful of what this event might portend.

Scientific Experts Say

Medical and scientific experts offer a different perspective, dismissing supernatural claims. They attribute the deformity to a rare congenital condition known as Cyclopia, where the embryo's face fails to develop symmetrically.

Another possible cause cited is Fetal Anasarca, a condition where excessive fluid retention in the fetus leads to severe swelling, which can distort facial features to appear human-like. Experts firmly reject any possibility of cross-species reproduction, emphasizing that it is biologically impossible. Despite these scientific explanations, many locals remain attached to their traditional and spiritual interpretations.
