Tamil Nadu Elections: How To Download Your Voter ID & Check Your Name In Voters List?

With the state preparing to vote on April 23, a total of 5.67 crore voters are eligible to cast their ballots. It is essential for every voter to confirm that their name appears on the Tamil Nadu voters list and to have access to their Voter ID. Below is a step-by-step guide to doing this online.

Checking Your Name In The Voters List

Voters can check their name on the Tamil Nadu electoral roll through the Election Commission of India's official search page or the Tamil Nadu voters portal. The easiest method is to search by EPIC number. Those who do not have their voter ID card with them can search by name and other personal details.

Online Method

Open the ECI "Search in Electoral Roll" page at https://electoralsearch.eci.gov.in/ or the Tamil Nadu voter service portal at https://erolls.tn.gov.in/electoralsearch/Quicksearch.aspx.

Once the link opens, the user must select the district, the name of the constituency, and then their name. If the details entered are correct, the portal will display the voter's information.

If the name does not appear, it is advisable to try different spellings or variations. The Tamil Nadu portal also supports Tamil transliteration, which is useful when checking the local roll by constituency or booth area.

Three Search Methods

The ECI portal offers three search options: Search by EPIC, Search by Details, and Search by Mobile.

Search by EPIC number

Open the Election Commission's "Search in Electoral Roll" page

Select Search by EPIC.

Choose Tamil Nadu as the state.

Enter the EPIC number exactly as printed on the voter ID card.

Fill in the captcha and click Search.

If the name is on the roll, the voter's details and polling station information will appear.

Search by name and details

Open the same electoral roll search page: https://electoralsearch.eci.gov.in/.

Select Search by Details.

Enter the voter's name, date of birth, relative's name, gender, and constituency details if asked.

Complete the captcha and click Search.

The result will show whether the name is in the voters list and will also display the polling booth details.

Search by Mobile Number

Open the voter search page on the ECI portal: https://electoralsearch.eci.gov.in/.

Select Search by Mobile.

Choose Tamil Nadu as the state.

Enter the registered mobile number.

Enter the captcha and request the OTP if prompted.

After verification, the portal will show the linked voter details, provided the mobile number is registered in the electoral roll system.

If the name does not appear

If a voter's name does not appear in the search results, the voter registration portals indicate that the individual may need to apply for inclusion or correction. New voters should use Form 6 for inclusion in the electoral roll. Voters can also contact their Booth Level Officer or the district election office for assistance.

Downloading the Voter ID

To download a digital copy of the Voter ID (e-EPIC), voters should visit the National Voter Service Portal (NVSP) at https://www.nvsp.in/ or use the Voter Helpline mobile application. After logging in using the EPIC number and registered mobile number, the e-EPIC can be downloaded as a PDF file.
