Tamil Nadu polls 2016: DMDK dissenters float new party MDMDK

Chennai, April 11: Dissidents in the DMDK led by propaganda secretary and MLA V C Chandrasekhar and two other legislators SR Parthipan and CH Sekhar on Sunday launched a new outfit named Makkal Desiya Murpokku Dravida Kazhagam (MDMDK).

Ten district secretaries who were expelled from the DMDK also attended the meeting where the decision was taken. Chandirakumar, however, said the MDMDK is not a political outfit but a movement aiming to topple the "anti-people AIADMK" and the MDMK general secretary Vaiko, who he accused of leading the People's Welfare Front as a B team of the ruling party.

Dissent broke out in the DMDK led by Vijaykanth after it joined the PWF last month. The DMDK will contest in 104 seats in the May 16 election and Vijaykanth has been made the alliance's chief ministerial candidate.
