Tamil Nadu Dam Level Today: Check Water Level In Mettur & Other Dams On August 1

In the early hours of Wednesday morning, the Stanley Reservoir at Mettur saw its discharge rate stand at 1.25 lakh cusecs. As the day progressed, the reservoir's inflow surged, beginning at 82,000 cusecs at 4 am and climbing to 1,25,500 cusecs by 8 am.

The increase in inflow prompted the authorities to raise the discharge rate to 1.50 lakh cusecs by 4 pm.

The discharge process was meticulously managed. Of the total discharge, 21,500 cusecs were channeled through the dam's power house and tunnel power house, generating a substantial 240 MW of electricity.

Meanwhile, the majority-1,28,500 cusecs-flowed through the 16-vent Ellis Saddle Sluices, ensuring the effective management of water levels.

Additionally, about 500 cusecs were directed into the East-West Canal to support irrigation needs. Despite the increased outflow, the water level at the reservoir maintained its full capacity of 120 feet, and the storage remained at the dam's total capacity of 93.47 tmc feet.

Meanwhile, several other dams are approaching their full capacity. Specifically, the water level in the Aliyar Dam has reached 118.5 feet, just 1.5 feet shy of its full capacity of 120 feet. The Amaravathi Dam stands at 88.29 feet, nearing its full level of 90 feet, while the Krishnagiri Dam has surpassed its usual level, reaching 52 feet compared to its full capacity of 50.6 feet.
