Tamil Nadu cracker industry fire: 9 killed, 5 injured

Reports said the workers were inside the factory when suddenly crackers exploded, causing the fire. The fire was doused later and the injured were admitted to a nearby hospital, police said.

Tamil Nadu saw a massive tragedy earlier this year when 54 people were burnt to death while 50 others were injured after a devastating fire engulfed a cracker factory at nearby Mudhalippati. According to witnesses, the intensity of the explosions that caused the blaze was so strong that they could be heard from a distance of two square kilometres.
