Tamil Nadu & Chennai Weather Update: Rains Are Back

Rains are back in Tamil Nadu with a few places getting light showers on Wednesday, as per the Regional Meterological Centre (RMC).

Tamil Nadu Weather Forecast For Today & Tomorrow

On Tuesday, light rain occurred over Coastal Tamilnadu (Ramanathapuram, Nagapattinam and Tiruvarur districts) and Karaikal area. However, dry weather prevailed over rest of the state and Puducherry. However, light to moderate rain is likely to occur at one or two places over Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Karaikal area today.

"Ground Frost is likely to occur at isolated pockets over higher hill ranges of Nilgiris district during the night. Mist/Haze is very likely to prevail generally during morning hours at isolated pockets of Tamilnadu, Puducherry, and Karaikal area," the statement from the RMC read.

Heavy Rains On Saturday

On Saturday, Thanjavur, Tiruvarur, Nagapattinam, Mayiladuthurai & Pudukottai districts are predicted to get heavy rains.

"Light to moderate rain at many places over Coastal Tamilnadu; at one or two places over Interior Tamilnadu and over Puducherry & Karaikal area with thunderstorm and
Lightning at one or two places is likely to occur. Heavy rain is likely to occur at isolated places over Thanjavur, Tiruvarur, Nagapattinam, Mayiladuthurai & Pudukottai districts of Tamilnadu and Karaikal area," the statement from the weather agency said.

In the last 24 hours, Kanyakumari recorded the highest maximum temperature of 33.3°C. Karur Paramathi recorded the lowest minimum temperature of 18.0°C in the plains of the region.

In the next two days, Chennai is expected to have a maximum tempeature of 30°C and minimum temperature of Around 21°C. The skies are expected to be partly cloudy with mist generally during morning hours.
