The video on the budget released on Thursday showcased the logo carrying 'ru, ' the first letter of the Tamil word 'Rubaai', which denotes the Indian currency in the vernacular language.

The logo also had the caption "everything for all," indicating at what the ruling DMK claims is its inclusive model of governance.

BJP Tamil Nadu President K Annamalai has come down heavily on the Tamil Nadu government, calling it a "stupid" move. He pointed out that the rupee symbol was designed by Thiru Udaya Kumar, a Tamilian and the son of a former DMK MLA.

"The DMK Government's State Budget for 2025-26 replaces the Rupee symbol designed by a Tamilian, which was adopted by the entire nation and incorporated into our currency. Thiru Udhay Kumar, who designed the symbol, is the son of a former DMK MLA. How stupid can you become, Thiru @mkstalin?" Annamalai said in a post on X.

The budget session is expected to commence at 9.30 am today. People can watch it LIVE online and mobile by following news channels.

In a bid to make the Budget more accessible to the public, the Tamil Nadu government has announced that live screenings will be held at 100 locations across Chennai. According to a Thanthi TV report, key spots such as Chennai Central Railway Station, Murasoli Maran Park, Anna Nagar Tower Park, Koyambedu Bus Terminus, Marina Beach, Pondy Bazaar, and Kathipara Park will broadcast the Budget session from 9:30 AM on Friday.

However, the AIADMK MLAs walked out of the house alleging that the ED searches at TASMAC uncovered irregularities worth Rs 1,000 crore. The party chief Palaniswami said that his party staged the walkout after Speaker M Appavu refused permission to discuss the issue.
