Tamil Nadu: Actress Meena Meets VP Dhankhar, Triggers Rumours Of Joining BJP
Veteran actress Meena, who has charmed audiences for over four decades in South Indian cinema, is once again making headlines - this time for her possible foray into politics. The popular star, currently seen on television as a judge on various shows, is at the centre of speculation following her recent meeting with Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar in Delhi.
Meena Shares The Photo
Sharing a photo with the Vice President on Instagram, Meena wrote: "With Hon'ble Vice-President, Shri Jagdeep Dhankhar Ji. It was an honor to meet you, sir. Learnt so much from you which I believe will help me lead my future with confidence. Thank you so much for your time."

This meeting has triggered strong rumours that Meena may be poised to join the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and could even be inducted as a Union Minister of State. Though there has been speculation for the past few years about her political aspirations, her recent high-profile interactions in Delhi have brought renewed focus to the matter.
Meena, A Top South Actress Of One Time
Meena, who began her career as a child artist - famously known as Baby Meena - starred in classic films like Nenjangal, Engeyo Ketta Kural, and Anbulla Rajinikanth. She later rose to leading-lady status with hits like Ejamaan, En Rajavin Manasile, and Muthu, working alongside Tamil cinema legends like Rajinikanth, Kamal Haasan, Ajith, and others. She has also enjoyed a successful run in Telugu and Kannada films.
Coming from a family deeply rooted in the arts, Meena's daughter, Nainika, also acted in Tamil cinema, making her debut as Vijay's daughter in Theri. Meena married businessman Vidyasagar in 2009, but tragically lost him in 2022 after a prolonged illness. Since then, she has focused on rebuilding her life around her daughter and career.
Earlier this year, Meena attended a Pongal celebration at Union Minister of State L Murugan's residence in Delhi, sparking whispers of her growing interest in politics. Though initial reports claimed choreographer Kala Master had invited her, speculation intensified that Meena was considering a political career. At the time, she denied reports of joining the BJP.
Now, her unexpected Delhi visit and meeting with top political figures have once again stirred political chatter. Sources claim she may also meet senior BJP leaders, amid talk that the party is keen to bring more Tamil film personalities into its fold - a strategy that has already seen figures like Khushbu Sundar and R. Sarathkumar join its ranks.
With the 2026 Tamil Nadu Assembly elections in view, the BJP is reportedly planning to elevate prominent faces into key positions. Senior journalists suggest Meena is being considered for the post of Union Minister of State. However, no official confirmation has been issued, and Meena herself has not commented on the matter.
As speculation continues to swirl, fans and political observers alike are waiting to see whether Meena will script a new chapter - this time, in public service.
