Survey shows "Pudhumai Penn Scheme" is bringing Social Changes

Chennai: CM Stalin's "Pudhumai Penn Scheme" has benefited over 1,56,000 girl students. In the next 5 months, it will benefit 1,04,347 girl students. The Survey shows that the scheme increased the rate of girls enrolling in College by 27%. This scheme is to encourage girl students from Class 6 to 12 to continue their education. Not only the government schools' girl students but also under reservation nearly 25% of private schools' girl students are also getting benefitted.

CM Stalin launched this scheme on September 5, 2022. At a faster rate, CM Stalin recently launched "Pudhumai Penn 2.0".

Cycle Mechanic's daughter is pursuing BE:

Kallakuruchi Government Arts and Engineering College students shared that getting ₹1,000 every month under this scheme is benefiting them in many ways. A girl Student Vishalini is from a poor family. She shared, "I am doing my first year in the ECE department. I am from a very small village where my father is working as a cycle mechanic, whereas my mother is working in a small private firm for the past 10 years. But both of them are not working currently.

They are not getting jobs to do nowadays. With a minimum income, we couldn't even meet our daily needs. But I'm pursuing an Engineering course only with the aid of ₹1,000 from the Pudhumai Penn Scheme. I can get whatever I need for my studies as well as for my brother's too. This Government helped me to make a better future for myself".

A Mason's daughter in Engineering:

Student R. Latha Maheshwari said, "I am doing my graduation in ECE. I am the first graduate in my family. As a girl from a rural, backward village, I was able to achieve what I want in Education through this Pudhumai Penn Scheme. My father, being a daily wage Mason, couldn't afford my higher education. To meet my daily needs and to buy the essentials for my studies, I am using this ₹1,000 from the scheme. CM Stalin made education possible for me".

Another Student Kavitha, "My father wanted me to study more. He's no longer with me. Even after his demise, I wanted to make his wish come true. Today I am pursuing my engineering degree. This was possible because of CM Stalin's ₹1,000. Every month I am able to fulfil my needs with this ₹1,000. Only because of this scheme I was able to enrol myself in a college. Otherwise getting higher education would have remained a dream for me. All thanks to our CM Stalin. In the future, I too want to help someone with their education".

A B.E Computer Science Student shared, "As I am doing an engineering course, I often enrolled myself in many online courses. Relying more on the internet will make my expenditure more. ₹1,000 from Pudhumai Penn Scheme is indeed aiding me to do all these online courses without expecting money from my parents. Earlier I used to hesitate to ask for money from my parents because they couldn't afford to spend. Now I'm really thankful to our CM".

Another student from an agricultural family, "My father is a vegetable vendor. He couldn't afford my education at all. CM Stalin's ₹1,000 scheme is helping me to pursue the course I want. I will save the money and use it for my educational purposes".

"₹1,000 every month is indeed a great aid. If it is for only once I wouldn't have been this much benefited. Books for my course are getting expensive every year. To meet all my educational needs, getting ₹1,000 from our CM is highly useful. For Me, CM Stalin is one in my family. Only he made it possible for me to pursue higher education".

In the same way, a student from Veerchozhapuram said that her college education dream came true because of this Pudhumai Penn scheme. Very many girl students from economically poor backgrounds are pursuing higher education only because of CM Stalin's Pudhumai Penn Scheme. Kavitha, a B.A. Tamil literature Student said that CM Stalin is like a brother in her family.

'Pudhumai Penn Scheme 2.0' was launched at a college in Tiruvallur on March 8, 2023. Through this 2.0 scheme, 1,04,347 more girl students will benefit. In the event, CM Stalin said, "For a Nation's better future, the citizens of the nation have to be educated. Women are supposed to be educated for a nation's welfare. Thiruvalluvar praised education as the greatest wealth one can attain. Poet Barathidassan described women without education as a barren land.

This Pudhumai Penn scheme is to make women attain this greatest wealth. The Dravidian Party wished to make everyone in this land to be equal through education without any diversities of religion, caste, financial status, race and gender. This scheme was named after the Dravidian Movement's one of the great women leaders Moovalur Ramamirtham Ammaiyar".

Moovalur Ramamirtham was sold for ₹10:

CM Stalin added that "Moovalur Ramamirtham was born in a very poor family. Her mother struggled really hard to bring her up in this world. So her own mother sold Ramamirtham for just ₹10. Now, every girl student in Tamilnadu is getting ₹1,000 every month to fulfil their dream of education. So far this scheme benefited nearly 1,56,000 girl students. The Tamilnadu government spent a budget of ₹69 crore and 44 lahks in the last 5 months. Nearly 12 thousand girl students could enrol themselves in college from a poor background just only with this ₹1,000.

In the last five years, nearly 10,146 girl students dropped their dream of getting into a college from school just because of poverty. They all enrolled themselves in college just through the Pudhumai Penn scheme this year. Amidst the benefited 1,56,011 girl students, 48,660 girl students are from Backward classes, 50,550 are from the most backward classes, 44,880 are from Scheduled castes and 1,900 are from the Scheduled Tribes".
