Spiritual Guru Bangaru Adigalar Passes Away at 82
Renowned spiritual guru Bangaru Adigalar, popularly known as 'Amma', passed away at the age of 82 due to a heart attack.
He was 82 and he died at his residence at Melmaruvathur following chest pain. He is survived by his wife and two sons.

Bangaru Adigalar served as the Chairman of the Adiparashakti Charitable Medical Education and Cultural Trust. Adigalar's spiritual leadership, particularly at the Adiparashakti temple, earned the respect and admiration of countless devotees.
The spiritual guru was known for revolutionising spiritualism in Tamil Nadu by allowing women into the sanctum sanctorum of Shakti temples.
The Adhiparasakthi spiritual movement he founded is popular for the Melmaruvathur temple and its local worship groups across the state.
A striking feature of his spiritual service is allowing women into the sanctum sanctorum of temples administered by him. Women were allowed to take part and perform worship during menstruation as well, still considered a taboo by several people.
He was conferred the Padma Shri Award in 2019 for his spiritual services to the nation.
The news of the religious guru's demise has saddened Adigalar's followers.
