Singaperumal Koil Flyover Opens In Chennai: Cost, Connectivity & Key Details

After a prolonged wait, the railway flyover at Singaperumal Koil has finally been inaugurated. The project, which had been a pressing demand of local residents and daily commuters, is now set to ease traffic congestion and enhance connectivity.

Originally scheduled for completion by December 2024, the inauguration of the flyover has brought immense relief to thousands who rely on this busy stretch.

A Game-Changer for Traffic Flow

Singaperumal Koil, a key transit hub, connects over 30 villages. For years, the railway crossing caused massive traffic snarls, often leading to long queues extending up to 2 kilometers on the National Highway. The frequent closure of the crossing for passing express trains only worsened the situation, creating daily struggles for motorists.

With the new flyover in place, vehicles can now move freely without interruption, significantly reducing congestion. It also ensures smoother travel on the crucial Singaperumal Koil-Sriperumbudur Road, benefiting workers and industries in Oragadam SIPCOT and nearby regions.

Infrastructure Development on the Rise

Built at a cost of ₹90.74 crore, the flyover seamlessly links Guduvancheri to Singaperumal Koil, providing much-needed respite to travelers from Padappai and Oragadam. Beyond improving traffic movement, the project is expected to trigger economic development. The improved infrastructure is likely to attract commercial investments, leading to the establishment of malls, shopping complexes, and residential projects along the Oragadam Road.
