Seven killed as lorry hits bus in Tamil Nadu

Coimbatore, Sep 30: Seven persons, including three women, were killed and 10 injured today when a sand-laden lorry dashed against a state transport bus in Thoppur, around 160 km from here, police said.

The lorry heading to Dharmapuri rammed the bus carrying passengers, travelling in the same direction, from the side at a curve on the national highway in Thoppur, killing four of of them on the spot, they said.

Three persons died on the way to the hospital, police said adding, the injured have been sent to a hospital.

Traffic movement on the highway was disrupted for nearly one hour due to the mishap, police said.
