Congress leader KC Venugopal on Sunday night had a "harrowing journey" on an Air India flight due to a suspected technical issue and he claimed the lives travellers were saved by the pilot's skill and luck.

The Air India flight from Thiruvananthapuram to Delhi was redirected to Chennai. The airline confirmed that flight AI2455 landed safely in Chennai, where the aircraft would undergo necessary inspections. Passengers affected by this diversion are being assisted with alternative travel arrangements to reach their destinations promptly.

Congress leader KC Venugopal stated that the flight, carrying several MPs and many passengers, faced severe turbulence shortly after take-off. An hour later, a flight signal fault prompted the diversion to Chennai.

Technical Fault and Weather Conditions
