BJP Leader Sarath Kumar On Vijay's Entry To Politics
Actor and BJP leader Sarath Kumar has expressed support for actor Vijay's entry into politics, noting that, like Vijay, he too ventured into politics when he was at the peak of his acting career.
Speaking to the press, Sarath Kumar welcomed Vijay's decision to form the Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam, a new political party, and emphasized that anyone with the intent to serve the people through politics should be welcomed. He stated, "Anyone can join politics. I welcome Vijay's entry. We should embrace those who wish to start a party and work for the welfare of the people."

However, Sarath Kumar voiced his disagreement with Vijay's recent statement that the Dravidian and Tamil nationalities represent "two eyes," cautioning that he couldn't accept that view. "I don't want to criticize him based on policy just yet. We'll see what plans he has and what his policies entail," he added. Sarath Kumar also stated that Vijay needed to hold several meetings, engage with the press, and clarify how his party's agenda differs from that of others.
Sarath Kumar also advised Vijay to focus on addressing the real problems of the people. "Politics should be about highlighting the issues faced by the public," he noted. "It is not simply about starting a new party. Other parties have already begun their election preparations, so it's essential to show how Vijay's party will contribute differently."
Reflecting on his own political journey, Sarath Kumar shared that he entered politics during his successful acting career, when he was on top of his game. "I joined politics to serve the people at a time when I was delivering big hits in cinema. I did it despite facing opposition from powerful political leaders," he explained.
On the topic of the Tamil Nadu fishermen's situation, Sarath Kumar questioned whether Vijay was aware of the central government's recent resolution to address the issue of fishermen jailed in foreign countries. "Since the BJP came to power, the imprisonment of fishermen has decreased. Vijay should know this and speak on it," he remarked.
Sarath Kumar also spoke about his role in the BJP, clarifying that he did not join the party with the expectation of any responsibilities. "When the responsibilities come, my commitment to them will only increase," he said.
