Rs 4 Crore Cash Seizure Case: BJP Leader Nainar Nagendran To Appear Before TN Police On May 2
BJP's Tirunelveli Lok Sabha candidate Nainar Nagendran has said that he will appear before the State Police on May 2 in a case related to the seizure of Rs 4 crore cash in the train during the Lok Sabha election campaign near Chennai.
Addressing the media, Nainar Nagendran said that the money did not belong to him and alleged that the State Police may have obtained confessions through coercion from individuals caught carrying the money.

"I am being targeted. My name has been included in the case of confiscation of Rs 4 crore due to political conspiracy. I have nothing to do with that money. While more than Rs 200 crore cash was seized across the State during elections, targeting only the Rs 4 crore cash seizure is suspicious. In the case of confiscation of Rs 4 crore, there is a suspicion that the accused may have been threatened.
They (TN Police) asked me to appear before them on May 2. I'll appear on the same day without fail. The details of why they sent the summons will be known during my appearance before them. Using my name in a cash seizure is an additional free advertisement for me," DTNext quoted Nagendran as telling reporters.
The three persons had boarded a train to Tirunelveli from Egmore and the team of officials intercepted them at nearby Tambaram and found Rs 4 crore in their possession. They had no valid documents to carry the said amount of cash, the cops had said earlier.
When asked if he would file a defamation case in this regard, Nainar Nagendran stated that he had no plans to initiate any legal proceedings.
The polling for the 39 Lok Sabha elections was held on April 26. This time, the BJP, which had failed to open an account in the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, is hoping to win a few seats. Surveys have claimed that the vote share of the national party would cross the double-digit mark.
Some pre-poll surveys have claimed that the BJP would end up at the second phase, decimating the AIADMK to the third spot.
