Revealed: How TCS techie was raped, murdered in Chennai

Chennai, Feb 26: Days after her death, Crime Branch-CID (CB-CID) Tamil Nadu Police on Tuesday, Feb 25 arrested two persons in connection with TCS techie death case. Now, it has been revealed that how the young software engineer was raped and killed by the accused persons.

24-year-old Uma Maheshwari, a Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) employee, went missing on Feb 13 and her decomposed body was found ten days after on Feb 23 near her office campus at at the SIPCOT IT Park in Siruseri.

According to police sources, the arrested duo allegedly had followed her when the victim left office and was walking alone on a deserted road. The accused allegedly had forced her to go to a bushy area where they allegedly sexually assaulted her and later murdered her. However, rape angle has not been confirmed yet.

Autopsy report earlier had confirmed that stab injuries at four places on the woman's body might have led to her death. The arrested two persons, who have been identified as two labourers from West Bengal working in a constructing site close to TCS campus, allegedly took away the victim's mobile phone and credit card which they later attempted to use.

Media reports also claimed that five people were allegedly involved in the case. While one person escaped from Chennai, other four people were arrested. However, arrest of two accused has been confirmed so far. The two accused are -- 24-year-old Uttam Mandal and 21-year-old Ram Mandal from Malda District in West Bengal.
