Mock drill turns tragic, student falls from 2nd floor and dies

Chennai, July 13: A 19-year-old girl died when she jumped off the second floor of a building during a disaster mock drill organised at a private college on the outskirts of Coimbatore on Thursday. Trainer TR Arumugham has been arrested in this connection.

N Logeswari was a second year student pursuing Bachelor in Business Administration (BBA) course at Kovai Kalaimagal College of Arts and Science at Narasipuram.

In a shocking video that has emerged of the incident Logeswari was seen being nudged and pushed by the trainer who stood behind her on the sunshade.

She hit the roof of the sunshade of the first floor and fell motionless on the ground. She was immediately rushed to the government hospital where she was declared dead.

"National Disaster Management Agency had conducted the mock drill in Logeswari's college. As part of the drill, the NDMA personnel had asked the boys and girls to jump from the second floor," police said.
