Microsoft Outage: How Is The Situation At Chennai Airport?

Several flights at Chennai Airport were canceled today due to the global Microsoft outage, causing significant disruptions. Passengers faced delays and frustration as they were not promptly informed about the cancellations.

Passenger Dev Mohanty expressed his dissatisfaction, saying, "I had a flight to Goa that was canceled, but IndiGo did not notify us by text or email. We were only informed by CISF officials upon arrival. IndiGo has made no arrangements or provided any information about alternative options."

Mahesh Bellur, another traveler, reported that his flight to Bengaluru was delayed. "I was aware of the global Microsoft outage, but there was no prior information about my flight. Upon arrival, I learned it was canceled and was told to wait until 5:00 pm for further updates. While I understand the situation, the lack of immediate solutions is frustrating."

Sanket shared his concern about missing his connecting flight, stating, "My flight was scheduled for 5:10 pm, and we received no notification about the cancellation. I've been here since noon and now risk missing my US-bound flight from Nagpur. They blame a software issue but haven't provided clear directives or allowed us to speak with a manager."

Airlines including SpiceJet, IndiGo, Akasa Air, Vistara, Air India, and Air India Express acknowledged the technical difficulties on social media. The outage has not only affected Chennai but also airports across Mumbai, Delhi, and Bengaluru.

This global disruption stems from a technical issue involving Microsoft and the American cybersecurity firm Crowdstrike, which has caused widespread problems. Millions of users encountered the "Blue Screen of Death" error, resulting in unexpected computer shutdowns and restarts.
